Stop the Bleed Training

Learn lifesaving skills to act in an emergency

About the Program

The Forest Grove Volunteer Fire Department provides Stop the Bleed training to equip community members with the skills needed to respond during a bleeding emergency.

These courses are taught by members of the department and focus on simple, effective techniques that can help save a life in the critical moments before emergency responders arrive.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Recognize life-threatening bleeding
  • Apply direct pressure to a wound
  • Use a tourniquet
  • Pack a wound to control bleeding

This hands-on training is designed for anyone in the community — no prior medical experience is required.

Person in blue gloves wraps gauze bandage around another person’s wrist, which already has a white pad applied, suggesting first aid care for an injury.

Why It Matters

Severe bleeding can become life-threatening in just a few minutes. Having the knowledge and confidence to act can make a critical difference.

Through this program, Forest Grove is committed to helping build a safer, more prepared community.
