Why Join Forest Grove?

At Forest Grove Volunteer Fire Department, you’ll find more than a volunteer opportunity—you’ll find a family.

As a community-focused organization built on tradition, we take pride in preparing our members to meet the challenges of today’s emergency services environment while maintaining a healthy balance between family, work, school, and volunteer service.

Whether you’re interested in emergency response, public education, community outreach, or learning valuable life skills, there is a place for you on the Green Team. All training and personal protective equipment are provided by the department, giving you the tools and support needed to succeed.

Membership Opportunities

Firefighter

Designed for ages 18 and older, Firefighter members serve in an active emergency response role. Members receive department-provided training and protective gear while responding to calls, supporting community programs, and serving as part of the Green Team.

Junior Firefighter

Designed for ages 16–17, the Junior Firefighter program helps members take the next step in fire service involvement. Juniors participate in approved training, assist around the station, and develop the skills, discipline, and teamwork needed for future service to the community.

Explorer Program

Designed for ages 14–15, the Explorer Program introduces younger members to the fire service through training, teamwork, and station activities. Explorers learn from experienced firefighters while building confidence, responsibility, and an early understanding of public safety.
