Forest Grove Volunteer Fire Department recently welcomed a local Boy Scout troop to the station for an evening of hands-on First Aid training and emergency preparedness education.

During the training session, scouts learned a variety of basic first aid skills that can help them respond effectively during emergencies. Participants received instruction on providing initial care, recognizing common medical situations, and understanding the importance of remaining calm when helping someone in need.

In addition to basic first aid techniques, the scouts learned how to properly apply a tourniquet to help control severe bleeding and practiced victim removal techniques, including how to safely drag an unconscious person from a smoke-filled environment. These practical exercises provided valuable experience and reinforced the importance of teamwork, situational awareness, and personal safety.

The training session helped participants complete requirements toward earning their First Aid Merit Badge, recognizing their commitment to learning skills that can make a difference during emergencies.

Forest Grove firefighters enjoyed the opportunity to work with the scouts and share knowledge that promotes preparedness and community safety. The department congratulates all participants on their hard work and successful completion of the training.
